Join Committee to Preserve the Finger Lakes in an online webinar featuring Colin Read. Colin teaches finance, environmental, and energy economics at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh. He served as Mayor of the City of Plattsburgh at a time in which commercial cryptocurrency miners were attempting to inundate his city to take advantage of Plattsburgh’s exceptionally low energy costs. This prompted Mayor Read to put in place a series of policies and local laws to ensure that the industry not usurp the city’s power quota, squander its energy, or endanger its public. In doing so, the City of Plattsburgh became a leader in the responsible development of an otherwise highly unregulated industry.
